“I assist my
community, as well
as improving my
own personal skills”
“I enjoy meeting
new people”
“It’s good to know
that you’re achieving
something”
FSN volunteering really does provide an
opportunity to learn new skills and to further
develop existing ones. With so many different
volunteering opportunities on offer, there’s
bound to be something to suit you.
Our Volunteers enjoy what they do for a variety
of reasons but the most common factor is
that they are making a difference in their own
community. They are reducing the risk of fire
and promoting other services. Don’t just think
about making a difference, make it happen.
Why Volunteer?
- You’ll get the chance to develop your
skills such as communication and dealing
with the public, as well as increasing your
self-confidence through practical hands-on
experience
- There are opportunities for everyone and
you never stop learning
- You’ll get a chance to put the skills and
experience you already have to good use by
helping others in your local community
- We need people of all ages and
backgrounds and are always looking for
those with skills in other languages in
addition to English to enable us to reach all
members of the community
- Meet new people - for many, the best
thing about volunteering for Fire Support
Network is getting to meet a wide range of
people and make new friends. There is a
real team spirit at FSN, and we provide a
supportive environment to make sure that
you get the most out of your time with us.
Can I fit volunteering into my life?
“We’ll be as flexible as
possible in enabling you
to volunteer at the times
that suit you best.”
Some roles are more flexible than others.
We’ll do our best to find a role for you that fits
in with your interests, and we’ll be as flexible
as possible in enabling you to volunteer at the
times that suit you best. Many of our trustees,
for example, fit their volunteering around full
time jobs.
You won’t be out of pocket – Fire Support
Network will cover any expenses you incur.
Above all, it’s a chance to make a real
difference.
Volunteer Roles available to you are:

community fire station. It is very important
that each volunteer group has a team leader
and deputy team leader.
If you feel that you have good leadership skills
and would like to take on the challenge please
state this on your registration form.
All volunteers are required to attend an
intense induction/training programme and
some roles will require you to undertake a
police disclosure.
